US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson attended his first meeting of the Group of Seven (G7) industrialized nations in the Italian town of Lucca. The group scheduled a special session for Tuesday, April 11 to discuss the Syria crisis, to be attended along with the seven members by the foreign ministers of Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Qatar. From Lucca, Tillerson is scheduled to travel to Moscow for a tough meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, after Russia and Iran set up a joint command center in Syria against the United States.  The G7 consists of the United States, Japan, Germany, Britain, Italy, France, and Canada. Russia was part of the G8, but it was ejected in 2014 after its annexation of Ukraine's Crimea region.
