Britain's ambassador to the UN, Matthew Rycroft, said Wednesday that sarin or a sarin-like substance was found by British experts in laboratory samples from the Syrian military's April 4 bombardment of the town of Khan Sheikhun. He made the statement during a Security Council meeting to discuss a resolution condemning the attack. Earlier, Turkey's interior minister said that laboratory tests had found sarin on samples from victims of the attack who were evacuated to his country. Sarin is a nerve agent that causes death by asphyxia as the muscles used for breathing become paralyzed.
